The University of Nairobi’s Computer Science department reports that AWS completed a three-day, in-person cloud-computing course involving 125 first- and second-year students. The department listed the story in April 2025. It is a historical training account, not evidence that every participant passed a certification examination or that a similar class is open now.
What the course account supports
The department’s article describes foundational cloud concepts, practical applications and instructor-led work using the Skills Center curriculum. It also says students were encouraged to pursue AWS Cloud Practitioner certification. Encouragement to pursue a credential is different from a recorded examination result.
The main article does not give the exact class dates or a participant-by-participant assessment record. It also links an external account for further information. Our reading is therefore attributed to what the university published; we did not attend the sessions or inspect attendance registers, exercises or certification records.
Separate three kinds of learning evidence
- Participation record. Keep the course name, provider, reported period and the document establishing participation. This answers what learning activity is recorded.
- Practical-work record. If an exercise is available and sharing is permitted, identify the task and the participant’s contribution. A classroom exercise should remain labelled as such rather than be described as a production deployment.
- Credential record. Record a certification only when separate evidence establishes the credential concerned. The training article cannot fill this field for an individual.
Those layers allow a learner to describe progress accurately without making the course sound less useful. An introductory session can establish vocabulary and provide guided practice while leaving independent proficiency or later assessment as separate questions.
Document an exercise without inflating its setting
A useful personal learning note could identify the problem considered, the environment supplied for the class, what the learner actually did and what would need further practice. If the task used a prepared demonstration, say so. If a result was not measured, do not add an invented performance figure.
This is an editorial suggestion for describing learning, not a claim about the exercises used in this course. It also does not describe current exam requirements, credential recognition, service charges or an employer’s selection criteria.
The April 2025 story establishes a named educational activity as reported by the host department. It supplies no individual hiring outcome, earnings forecast or guarantee that course attendance satisfies a particular job requirement. Current training or certification arrangements require their own dated official information.
